At the library: finding and borrowing books
Kutubxonada: kitob topish va olish
Sizga insho uchun bir kitob kerak, katalogda "on loan" deb ko'rsatilgan. Yana bir kitobni javonda topa olmadingiz. Kutubxona yordam stoliga keldingiz.
Maqsad: Nima qidirayotganingizni tushuntiring, band kitobni navbatga qo'yish (reserve) va elektron versiya haqida so'rang, kitob olish muddati va jarimalar haqida bilib oling.
Librarian: Hi, can I help?
You: Hi, yes, I'm looking for a book for my essay, but it says on the catalogue that it's on loan.
Librarian: Okay, what's the title?
You: It's 'Data Ethics in Practice'. I think it's by Morgan.
Librarian: Let me have a look. Yeah, it's out until the fifteenth. You can place a hold on it, though, and we'll email you when it's back.
You: Great. Is there an e-book version, by any chance? The fifteenth is quite close to my deadline.
Librarian: Actually, yes, we've got an e-book licence. You can read it online through the library website with your university login.
You: Oh, perfect. That's even better. And one more thing, I was looking for another book on the third floor, but it wasn't on the shelf.
Librarian: Have you got the shelf mark?
You: Yes, it's 006.3 TAY.
Librarian: Hmm, it says it's available. Sometimes people leave them on the tables. I'll ask a colleague to check the returns trolley.
You: Thanks. And how long can I keep books for, usually?
Librarian: Three weeks for postgraduates, and they auto-renew unless someone else requests them.
You: Brilliant, that's really helpful. Thanks a lot.

- Kutubxonachilar (librarians) faqat kitob bermaydi, ular manba qidirishda ham yordam beradi. Ko'p kutubxonalarda soha bo'yicha "subject librarian" bor.
- Kutubxonaning jim zonalarida (silent study) telefon va suhbat mumkin emas. Guruh ishi uchun alohida xonalarni oldindan bron qiling.
