Asking for directions
Yo'l so'rash
Telefoningiz o'chib qoldi va siz shaharda adashib qoldingiz. Soat to'rtda universitetning Business School binosida uchrashuvingiz bor. Ko'chadagi odamdan yo'l so'rayapsiz.
Maqsad: Notanish odamga xushmuomala murojaat qiling, yo'lni so'rang, ko'rsatmalarni tushunganingizni qayta aytib tekshiring va minnatdorchilik bildiring.
You: Sorry to bother you, but do you know how to get to the Business School? The university one.
Local: Oh, er, yeah. It's not far. Are you walking?
You: Yeah, I am. My phone's died, so I'm a bit lost.
Local: Ah, nightmare. Right, so go straight down this road until you get to the big roundabout.
You: Okay, straight down to the roundabout.
Local: Then take the second exit, so you'll be on Park Lane. Keep going past the church.
You: Sorry, second exit, past the church, and then?
Local: Then it's the big glass building on your left, just after the traffic lights. You can't miss it.
You: Great. So, straight on, second exit at the roundabout, past the church, and it's on the left after the lights?
Local: That's it, spot on.
You: And roughly how long does it take on foot?
Local: About ten, fifteen minutes, I'd say.
You: Perfect, I should just make it. Thanks so much, that's really kind of you.
Local: No worries. Good luck!
Maslahatlar
- Notanish odamga "Excuse me" yoki "Sorry to bother you" bilan murojaat qiling. To'g'ridan-to'g'ri savol bilan boshlash qo'pol tuyulishi mumkin.
- Yo'l ko'rsatmalarini qayta takrorlash ("So, straight on, then left?") - eng yaxshi tekshirish usuli. Bu odob doirasida va sizni noto'g'ri yo'ldan saqlaydi.
- Britaniyada "roundabout" (aylanma), "high street" (asosiy savdo ko'chasi) va pub'lar ko'pincha orientir sifatida ishlatiladi.
- "You can't miss it" deyishsa ham, ba'zan topish qiyin bo'ladi. Bu shunchaki ishontirish iborasi.
