Assistant: Hi there, are you okay or do you need a hand?
You: Hi, yeah, I'm looking for a SIM card. I've just moved here and I need a UK number.
Assistant: Sure. Are you after pay-as-you-go or a monthly plan?
You: I'm not sure, to be honest. What's the difference, roughly?
Assistant: Pay-as-you-go, you top up whenever you want. With SIM-only monthly, you pay a fixed amount each month, and it's usually better value.
You: Right. Is there a long contract with the monthly one?
Assistant: You can do a thirty-day rolling one, so you can cancel anytime, or twelve months, which is a bit cheaper.
You: I think the rolling one makes more sense for me. I'm only here for a year.
Assistant: Makes sense. How much data do you use, roughly?
You: Quite a lot, actually. I use maps all the time, and video calls with my family.
Assistant: Then I'd go for this one, thirty gigs for twelve pounds a month.
You: Sounds good. Does it include international calls, by any chance?
Assistant: Not to Uzbekistan, I'm afraid. But most people just use WhatsApp for that.
You: Yeah, fair enough. I'll take it. Can I keep the number if I switch later?
Assistant: Yep, you can always take your number with you.
