Chunking and pausing

Bo'laklab gapirish va pauzalar

Tabiiy nutqda odamlar gapni ma'no bo'laklariga (chunk) bo'lib aytadi va pauzani bo'laklar orasida qiladi, so'z o'rtasida emas. Masalan: "When I was at university | I used to work part-time | in a small café." Har bir bo'lak ichida so'zlar bir-biriga ulanadi, bo'laklar orasida esa qisqa pauza bo'ladi. To'g'ri joyda pauza qilish sizga o'ylash uchun vaqt beradi va tinglovchiga tushunishni osonlashtiradi. Noto'g'ri joydagi pauza ("I went to | the | shop") esa ravonlik yo'qligidek eshitiladi.

Tipik xato: Artikl yoki predlogdan keyin to'xtash ("I went to the… shop"), yoki umuman pauzasiz tez-tez gapirish. Ikkalasi ham ravonlik balini tushiradi. Ko'pincha so'z qidirayotganda "eee" deb uzun to'xtash.
